The most immediate benefits that I have felt from the yoga sessions at work are that my upper back, shoulders and neck are more flexible and comfortable.  I have fewer 'mouse-arm' problems (soreness in fingers, hand, wrist, arm and neck), and the breathing exercises help to reduce stress when things get really demanding in the office.  These benefits result in increased productivity.

The biggest long-term benefit of practicing yoga has been that I feel much more attuned to, and comfortable with, my body.  In particular my balance and flexibility have improved enormously and I have more energy.  I feel as if I've rolled back the clock several years.

One thing I believe is that until you start a program like this, you don't really realize just how much tone and flexibility your muscles have lost while you were not paying attention.  It's great, and my goal is to keep yoga as a permanent part of my life.

Thank you!
Sylvia D.

Yoga
Originating in India over 5000 years ago, Yoga combines postures (asana), breath control (pranayama) and relaxation to harmonize one’s mind, body, spirit and breath achieving a feeling of blissfulness.

The breath is used to energize the body as it helps to relax the muscles. Stretching and holding each pose, the body gently becomes more supple and flexible.  An essential part of Yoga practice, deep relaxation allows the entire body and mind to rejuvenate. Tension is discarded and tranquility is renewed.

Common problems such as backaches, leg cramps, insomnia, fatigue and digestive dysfunctions  can be eliminated.

Classes are designed for all body types and fitness levels.

Pilates
Developed in the early 1900's by German born Joseph H. Pilates, this regime increases range of motion, flexibility and core strength.

Utilizing the “Powerhouse,” which encompasses the abdominal muscles, the spine and the hip and shoulder girdles, this series of exercises are performed on a mat.

Originally implemented as a rehabilitative program for dancers, this no impact regime produces a longer, leaner and more toned physique. Pilates works to correct posture, enhance graceful movement and improve balance and coordination.

Break old habits while establishing new ones as you re-pattern yourself to move correctly. Strengthen your core, relieve postural backache, and reconnect with your body.

Working to correct muscular imbalances and finding a connection with the breath, Pilates leaves you feeling invigorated and stress-free.
Body Rolling
Developed by Yamuna Zake, Body Rolling is the practice of using one's body weight to roll over a specially designed ball.  Stimulating bone, freeing connective tissue and creating more space around the joints, this method provides a deep massage while increasing energy, strength and vitality. Blood flow is increased as muscles are stretched and the body is realigned to promote healing.

Combining the strengthening and toning of exercise with the release of deep massage, Body Rolling is fast becoming one of the easiest ways to eliminate tension and release stress.
