Welcome to December!  This month closes down the balance of the classes we offer for the year.  But you're going to LOVE what we have put together for the start of 2017!

Do you like FREE?  Then consider joining us Wednesday January 11/17 at Hastings Community Center and Roll, Relax and Restore with Massage Ball Yoga from 6:30pm - 7:30pm.  After class you can register for the whole series!

Massage Ball Yoga will also be offered at Hillcrest Community Center on Sunday afternoons from 3:45pm - 4:45pm starting January 15/17.

You can also combine some funky dance moves with some traditional Yoga on Thursday January 12/17 in our FREE Yoga Dance class  at Kerrisdale Community Center from 11:15am to 12:15pm.  We offer a registered class at both Kerrisdale Community Center Thursday mornings and Hillcrest Community Center Sunday mornings starting the week of January 15/17.

Got a teen looking for something to do on Tuesdays after school?  Maybe they would enjoy our new fun and creative way to become more comfortable with their artistic self in our Improv Contemporary Dance classes at Kerrisdale Community Center starting January 17/17.

Family Yoga for parents and kids ages 4 to 7 starts Sunday afternoon January 15 at Champlain Heights.  Spend an hour together connecting and exploring through group and partner poses.

We're exploring time slots for Yoga for All at Champlain Heights.  So for this winter season, we're offering two back to back classes Thursday nights starting January 19.  Pick your best time to join us from 6:00pm - 7:00pm or 7:00pm to 8:00pm.

 

If mobility is a challenge but you'd still like to do some Yoga, we invite you to join one of our Chair Yoga classes.  We offer these at a very reduced price on Wednesday afternoons at Sunset Community Center and Friday afternoons at Thunderbird Community Center


Other classes you might enjoy are Yoga for Cyclists, Restorative Yoga, Kundalini Yoga Yoga for the Old Adult, Baby Sign Language and of course our regular Yoga and Pilates classes.

How Yoga Will Make You Happier


I love to tell people all about my skepticism regarding yoga before I finally tried it; as someone who is constantly on the go, the idea of sitting on a mat and being still sounded like torture to me. I thought there were "yoga people"—you know, people who are naturally calm and slow and patient—and then there was... everyone else like me. I was most definitely a yoga person.

Except, now I a yoga person, and it's precisely because I don't come to what I think of as those stereotypical "yoga attributes" naturally that I've learned to love it so much.  To continue reading, click here.

Baked Sweet Potato and Onions (6 - 8 Servings)
Original Recipe


Ingredients:

3 red onions, halved lengthwise, then cut into thin slices
3 pounds sweet potatoes, halved lengthwise, then cut into thin slices
2 cups apple cider
1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
Freshly ground black pepper to taste

Preparation
:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Mix all ingredients together in a baking dish. Cover with foil and bake 1 hour. Remove the foil and continue to bake 30 minutes more, or until the sweet potatoes are tender.
