As we move toward summer, we pare down our classes.  However, you still have time to register or drop-in to many of our spring session classes until the end of the month. You can find what's current at www.intoyoga.ca and clicking on the link for classes.

We thought you might be looking for something to do this summer and wanted to share a couple of Yoga retreats that we've found locally.  Take your choice of the beach or the farm....or why not both!

Yoga works the whole body.  Although for many people it brings to mind flexibility, Yoga is excellent for strength and endurance.  If leg strength is what you're looking for, we've found some fabulous poses to make your foundation strong and balanced.

Let's face it.  The one thing that never eludes us is aging.  But we don't have to give in to it easily.  You can take steps to improve your muscle health and grow old gracefully with Yoga.

Have you got a toddler that you're struggling to help stay dry all night?  Although bedwetting can be worrisome, it is perfectly  normal for toddlers not yet of school age.  But to make things easier, we've found some ideas that might help result in a dry night's sleep.

Ready for a delicious treat?  How about some energy bars.....made in the slow cooker, no less?  You can make them while you read our newsletter!

Yoga for Leg Strength

Most people choose yoga for the great flexibility benefits it provides. Those same people also learn very quickly that yoga is an excellent way to build strength and endurance for your muscles. There is a yoga pose to work virtually any muscle in your body. Depending on the type of yoga you choose to practice, you may build strength through movement and flow, or you may build it through the isometric work done when holding poses.  To learn about the poses, click here.


Stop Sarcopenia Before it Starts

I found my first grey hair when I was 22. It wasn’t completely shocking. My mother’s hair was “brindled” grey-black for as long as I could remember before it transitioned to luminous white.

I never thought seriously about dyeing it. I knew it was an option, of course. Many of my friends were coloring their hair by their mid-30s and encouraging me to do the same. I just didn’t want to put chemicals on my head and couldn’t think of reasons to do it that outweighed the reasons not to.

How to Prevent Bedwetting for Toddlers

Congratulations, your preschooler is potty trained! Most of the time anyway. During the day he runs around free as a bird, unencumbered by diapers and training pants. It feels as if a weight has been lifted off of (or from the bottom of at least) both of you. Nighttime however, is a different story. Slow Cooker Quinoa Energy Bars (8 servings)
Original Recipe

This energy bar recipe is super easy and made in the slow cooker! Quinoa, chia seeds and almond butter make these bars a healthy snack or breakfast!


  • 2 Tbsp Almond butter
  • 2 Tbsp Pure maple syrup
  • 1 Cup Unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/2 tsp Cinnamon
  • 2 Large eggs
  • 1/3 Cup Quinoa, uncooked
  • 1/2 Cup Raisins
  • 1/3 Cup Roasted Almonds, roughly chopped*
  • 1/3 Cup Dried apples, roughly chopped
  • 2 Tbsp Chia seeds


    1. Spray a 5 Quart Slow Cooker with cooking spray and cut a piece of parchment to just fit in the bottom of it. I just traced my slow cooker on a large piece of parchment, cut it out and stuck it in. Spray the parchment with cooking spray, and press it down to adhere it to the slow cooker. **
    2. In a large, micro-wave safe bowl, combine the almond butter and maple syrup and melt until the almond butter is creamy, about 30 seconds.
    3. Whisk together the almond butter and maple syrup. Then, whisk in the almond milk, cinnamon and salt. Whisk until the milk is well incorporated with the almond butter.
    4. Whisk in the eggs until well combined, then stir in all remaining ingredients thoroughly.
    5. Pour the mixture into the prepared slow cooker and cook on LOW heat until the top of the bars just appear set, about 3 1/2-4 hours.
    6. Run a knife around the outside of the bars and remove the bowl from the slow cooker. Place into the refrigerate to cool completely.
    7. Once cool, cut into bars and DEVOUR!

      NOTE: if you can’t find toasted almonds, just dry toast them in a 400 degree oven for about 5-10 minutes, until lightly golden brown.

      *Don’t skip this step. It makes the bars so much easier to get out.
      Store the bars in an air tight container in the refrigerator.

    • Protein: 16.1 g
    • Total Fat: 8.4 g
    • Saturated Fat: 1.1 g
    • Carbohydrates: 20.1 g
    • Cholesterol: 47 mg
    • Sodium: 39 mg
    • Fiber: 4.3 g
    • Sugar: 9.1 g
