Although summer didn't officially arrive until June 21, August, to me, means we've hit mid summer.  And as such, it's time to start thinking about what classes you'd like to attend come September.  Registration for most locations begins mid August, so be sure to check with the community center of your choice and register early to avoid disappointment.  You'll see what we have in store for you at www.intoyoga.ca.  Just go to the classes pages and find out.

Here's a little peek at some highlights.  We've even got some FREE classes for you!

We've added some Family Yoga and Kids Yoga classes where everyone is sure to have a blast.  You'll find them at Champlain, Dunbar and Hastings Community Centers.

Baby Sign Language is so popular we've added an additional location and will be offering it at Marpole-Oakridge Community Center.  Plus a new Massage Ball Yoga which will ease away your tensions awaits you at Marpole-Oakridge, as well.

Animal Kingdom Movements (ages 2-4) has been a great success so we'll be continuing it at Roundhouse and have also added it at both Mt. Pleasant and West End Community Centers.

Jazz and Tap for 3-4 year olds is new at Roundhouse this September.

Chair Yoga for 55+ is being held at Thunderbird Community Center and Yoga for the Older Adult continues at Kerrisdale Community Center.

Partner Yoga awaits you at Hillcrest Community Center.  Sign up with a partner or pair up in class.  It's up to you! 

We've got lots of Pilates, Hatha Yoga and Kundalini Yoga coming your way too!

Tips on Portion Control

Teaching Your Baby Sign Language Can Benefit Both of You

Baby sign language—a specialized sign language used to communicate with preverbal infants and toddlers—has become increasingly popular over the last few decades. It is intended to help very young children to express their needs and wishes earlier than they could otherwise. Fudgy Flourless Chocolate Cake
 (8 servings)
Original Recipe


Black beans are the best thing to happen to baked goods since canned pumpkin! You won't believe how delicious this chocolate cake is. And NO, you can't taste the black beans -- just rich chocolaty deliciousness. Game-changing recipe here, people...

Ingredients:
One 15-oz. can black beans, drained and rinsed
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup (about 4 large) egg whites
1/3 cup unsweetened applesauce
1/3 cup canned pure pumpkin
1/4 cup Truvia spoonable calorie-free sweetener (or another no-calorie granulated sweetener; see  original recipe HG FYI)
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/4 tsp. salt
3 tbsp. mini semi-sweet chocolate chips


Preparation
:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a 9" round cake pan with foil, and generously spray with nonstick spray.

Place all ingredients except chocolate chips in a food processor. Puree until completely smooth and uniform.

Fold in 1 tbsp. chocolate chips.

Spread mixture into the baking pan, and smooth out the top.

Evenly top with remaining 2 tbsp. chocolate chips, and lightly press into the batter.

Bake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean, 35 - 40 minutes.

Let cool completely, about 1 hour.

Refrigerate leftovers. (This cake tastes great chilled.)
