Winter 2017 season is off to a great start!  Classes are going well and you can look for a second session for many of them starting this month.  Or you can drop-in to something that's already running!

It's exciting to see some of our newer classes like Roll, Relax and Restore with Massage Ball Yoga, Family Yoga, Kundalini Yoga and  Chair Yoga being so well received! Be sure to visit our 'classes' page at www.intoyoga.ca to stay up to date with what we're offering.

Yoga can be done anytime during the day, but if you want to transition from sleep into  a morning practice you should roll right into our Morning Yoga Poses article.

Yoga is not about just being on the mat.  It's about what you do in all aspects of your life.  If you're not seeing the 'bigger picture' in your life, check out a couple of things you could be missing.

If you've found the pitfall of weight loss, only to gain it (and often more) back again, know that it doesn't have to be this way.  Learning a few nutritional or lifestyle strategies may be what makes all the difference.

Keeping up to date with safety standards is hard enough, but when it comes to your baby, it can be even more fast paced.  Learn some of the new sleep safety guidelines for your little one.

10 Morning Yoga Poses That Will Wake You Up

If you want to establish a consistent yoga practice, one of the first steps is to find the time of day that works best for you and make sure to be on your mat each day at that time. It doesn't matter what time it is, but it does make sense to tailor your practice to the rhythm of the day. For morning yoga, this means gently shaking off sleep and then invigorating yourself for the day ahead.

Get started by coming to lying on your back with your knees bent. You can hug your knees in to your chest if that feels good.

Yoga Off the Mat

One of the things I love about yoga is that if you truly pay attention to what you’re working on in class, you’ll probably find a connection to something you’re working on in your life off the mat. During class, you may set an intention to be more open to trying a new pose instead of taking the option to do a pose you’re already comfortable with. Safe Sleep Guideline for Babies

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) published new safe sleep guidelines for infants in an effort to help prevent sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) and other sleep-related deaths like strangulation and suffocations. In doing so, they have given a total of 19 recommendations to help protect your baby. Grilled Eggplant Involtini
(4 Servings)
Original Recipe


Grilled eggplant slices have a cutlet texture that’s sturdy enough to stand up to sauces, toppings, and fillings. Here, they are rolled around a tomato-and-olive filling for a veg version of a classic Italian beef recipe

Ingredients:

2 large eggplant, 1 peeled and diced (3 cups), 1 cut into 8 slices, divided
3 tomatoes, halved and seeded
1 medium onion, diced (1½ cups)
6 Tbs. olive oil, divided
4 cloves garlic, minced (4 tsp.)
¼ cup oil-packed sun-dried tomatoes, drained
¼ cup chopped basil leaves, plus more for garnish
¼ cup kalamata olives
3 Tbs. capers, drained
2 Tbs. chopped parsley
2 Tbs. nutritional yeast
2 cups prepared tomato sauce


Preparation
:

1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Toss together diced eggplant, tomatoes, onion, 3 Tbs. olive oil, and garlic in bowl. Season with salt and pepper, if desired. Spread on baking sheet, and roast 25 minutes, or until vegetables are browned and tender. Transfer to food processor, and add sun-dried tomatoes, basil, olives, capers, parsley, and nutritional yeast; process until chunky-smooth. Season with salt and pepper, if desired.

2. Heat remaining 3 Tbs. oil in grill pan over medium-high heat. Cook eggplant slices on grill pan 3 minutes per side, or until tender. Cool.

3. Coat 13- x 9-inch baking dish with cooking spray. Spoon 1/4 cup roasted vegetables onto edge of each grilled eggplant slice. Roll eggplant slices into logs, and place seam-side-down in prepared baking dish. Spoon tomato sauce over eggplant rolls in dish. Bake 
10 minutes, or until tomato sauce is hot and bubbly. Garnish with basil leaves.

Calories: 380; Protein: 9 g; Total Fat: 25 g; Saturated Fat: 3 g; Carbohydrates: 39 g; Cholesterol: 0 mg; Sodium: 990 mg;
Fiber: 16 g ; Sugar: 17 g
