I hope you've had a wonderful summer and are ready to return to, or even start, one of our programs.  We've got lots planned for you!

If you haven't yet, it's time you get your kids involved in Yoga. Get them out of your hair for awhile and put them into one of our Kid's Yoga classes.  Or spend some extra bonding time and join them in one of our Family Yoga classes.  How about the little tykes get even more creative by registering them for our popular Animal Kingdom Movements program.  We've added more locations for your convenience.  If they prefer to dance their way around, we've added a Jazz and Tap class for kids aged 3-4 that they'll absolutely love!

If you're a new mom with a baby under 24 months and want to learn how better to communicate with them, try out one of our many Baby Sign Language classes.  Imagine your 12 month old actually being able to express to you want they want or need!

Other classes like Beginner Yoga, Partner Yoga, Yoga for the Older Adult, Massage Ball Yoga, Chair Yoga, Kundalini Yoga and Pilates are still all available to you.  We even have some new times and locations.  Check them out at www.intoyoga.ca.

At Hillcrest Community Center on September 17 we're letting you try a FREE Partner's Yoga class.  We also have a FREE Massage Ball Yoga class on September 20 at Marpole-Oakridge Community Center and a FREE Pilates class at the same location on Thursday September 14.  Although free, registration is still required for these classes.

If you're still not finding the classes you'd like to participate in, let us know.  Email me with some ideas and we'll do our best to offer them.

Antipasto Orza Pasta Salad

Original Recipe


Pasta salad is one of our favorite non all veggie salads to consume. It’s not exactly the best way to lose weight, but it will give you enough carbs to give you energy for the entire day. We’ve discovered an awesome recipe that combines pasta salad with a zing of orzo.

Ingredients:

  • 6 ounces orzo
     
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cups pesto, to taste
     
  • 1/4 cup roughly chopped sun-dried tomatoes
     
  • 1/4 cup roughly chopped roasted peppers
     
  • 1/4 cup chopped olives (I like salt-cured black olives)
     
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cups caramelized onions, to taste
     
  • 1/2 lemon, zested
     
  • 1 handful salad greens of choice (I like baby kale and mustard greens)



Preparation
:


1.  Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Salt well, then cook orzo, stirring occasionally, until tender but firm, about 7 or 8 minutes. Drain, rinse with cold water, and drain well again.

2.  Toss the orzo with the pesto. sun-dried tomatoes, roasted red peppers, olives, caramelized onions, and lemon zest. Taste and adjust salt and lemon, adding juice as needed. Serve over salad greens.
