Welcome to 2018!  I hope you made it through the holidays unscathed and ready for the best year ever!

Are you ready to begin your 2018 transformation?  We're starting January 15 2018 and want you to share the experience with us.  Visit www.CleanseYourBody.ca for more info or email me to get started!

Registration begun last month for classes and they begin as early as January 14.  Be sure to visit our website www.intoyoga.ca to find everything we're offering for adults and kids this winter.  But, here's a glimpse of a few new classes.

Whether to connect more closely with a partner or have fun with a friend, we have several 2 hour Partner Yoga workshops to help cultivate a sense of well-being and valuable insight to understanding yourself and others.

Dynamic Posture
explores gentle Yoga poses with the influence of Alexander Technique principles acutely focusing on body movement, awareness and posture.

Yoga Dance, also inspired by the Alexander Technique, offers an eclectic combination of Salsa, Yoga and unique Postural Reflexes exercises.

An exciting class mixing classical ballet barre repertoire with traditional Mat Pilates is what our Dancing Pilates is all about.

If straight up Hatha Yoga isn't your thing, try one of our Kundalini Yoga classes.
There is less emphasis on flexibility and flow and more on concentration and aspects of mental and physical discipline.

Yoga Crafts explores your 3 to 4 year old's creativity and imagination through a combination of Arts and Crafts and Yoga.

Tight clothing and bare feet are the only things required for our
Little Ballerinas class giving tiny dancers, ages 3 - 5, the chance to twirl, jump, skip, gallop and hop their way through an exciting introduction to ballet!

Your little one will have a blast jumping like a frog, lumbering like a gorilla, skittering like a crab, or swimming and playing like a whale, dolphin or seal in our Animal Kingdom Movements class for kids either 2-4 years old or 3-5 years, depending on location.

Our Jazz & Tap class for 3-4 year olds was such a hit, we've added a Jazz class for 5-7 year olds too!

Among our many tried and true classes are  Chair Yoga, Yoga for the Older Adult, Family Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Pilates, Baby Sign Language and much more.

To find all we offer....what, where, when, fee, etc, visit our website www.intoyoga.ca.  Register early or the class may be full like our Baby & Me Yoga class!

Enjoy the newsletter.

Side Plank

Many of you are familiar with the Plank Pose, aka Wheelbarrow, which resembles a Push Up.  But what about the Side Plank, and some of it's variations?

Whether you want a variation that enables more support or you're looking for something more challenging, you'll find it in the Side Plank.  To learn more, click here.

Stretching and Flexibility For Older Adults

If you find yourself losing balance and feeling less flexible as you get older, then you’re not alone.

Aging is often accompanied by decreased balance and muscle strength, increasing the risk of falling. Muscles lose their elasticity, becoming tighter and shorter. While stretching is often thought of in relation to athletic performance, older individuals can benefit from regular stretching exercises to improve the functionality of daily living.  To continue reading, click here.

Pilates and Back Pain

Pilates exercises are commonplace at physical therapy centers, chiropractors are recommending Pilates, and "My back used to hurt all the time and now I don't feel it anymore" is a phrase we hear a lot from people who do Pilates consistently. So what is it about Pilates that works so well for back pain relief?

What makes Pilates so effective is that it addresses the underlying structural imbalances in the body that lead to back pain.

Issues like lack of core support, pelvic instability, muscular imbalances, poor posture, and lack of body awareness all affect back health. They are also issues that the Pilates method specializes in helping people improve.  To read the article, click here.

Teaching Sign Language to Babies and Toddlers: Myths, Truths and Benefits

Baby sign language has been around for decades; however, it has just recently started to become more popular. Teaching sign language to infants and toddlers has been largely controversial and debated among professionals and parents as to whether it is actually beneficial to the child. To continue reading, click here.

Peanut Butter Protein Balls
Original Recipe
This peanut butter protein balls recipe is so easy to make and it's the ideal snack when your energy is flagging and you need a quick nosh to get up to speed.

The exact ratio of ingredients and resulting taste will depend a little on the types of protein powder and peanut butter you use. This basic recipe was made with a French Vanilla flavor protein powder but chocolate and other flavors work fine as well. The agave syrup goes a long way in giving it some sweetness.

1 cup natural peanut butter
4 scoops (or 1 1/3 cups) any flavor whey protein powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup agave syrup or to taste
Crushed nuts or almond flour/almond meal, optional

1.  In a medium bowl, mix together all of the ingredients until thoroughly combined. A stand mixer works great for this, but a food processor or a wooden spoon works fine as well. You might need to add more protein powder if the mixture is too wet or more agave syrup if it's too dry.

2.  Roll the mixture into 1-inch balls.

3.  If you like, roll in crushed nuts or almond flour/almond meal (the calorie count given does not include the nuts or almond flour).
